My name is Stephen, and I am a believer.

By itself, a statement like that might raise an eyebrow, draw a jeering sarcastic comment, or get virtually no response at all. It lacks context and specificity. One might ask, "a believer in what?” or " why should I care?"

I say that what a person believes in, frames every value judgment they make. Since every decision from the most mundane to life altering choices is ultimately a value judgment (where option A is "better" than option B) - I propose that one's Worldview is a summary of who that person is...and perhaps who they will eventually become.

We exist on a linear frame. Our lives are understood as a sequence of events from conception to the grave. What we do between those two nodes will leave an indelible mark on Creation. Our choices matter...what motivates those choices matters. What we believe matters.

So, what do I believe in? It certainly isn't humanity. We have failed at every opportunity. It isn't nature...that blind cosmic force that feigns "nurturing" with endless futility and a ridiculous series of just-so stories and impossibly happy accidents.

I believe in Yeshua - Jesus Christ. I believe in the Jesus of the Bible, as it describes Him literally and perfectly. For better or worse, all my attempts to disprove and test the veracity of the Biblical testimony have resulted in my failure...and God's glory. The Bible is the result of intelligence far beyond reckoning. It is my life goal to share that reality with everyone I meet.
I cannot "win" souls. I cannot convince anyone of anything on my own. I can only stand for what I believe in, speak when the opportunities are presented, and strive to wrap my finite mind around the infinite God.

At the End of All Things, a man's relationship to his God will be the only thing that matters.

I am starting this blog for my sons.
