Today's verse comes from the book of John.

"Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by My Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him." ~ John 14:21

1) "Whoever has my commands..." - We all require the knowledge that can be found in the Bible as part of the training we need to negotiate a Christian lifestyle. The Spirit of the Times is one of self promotion and demonstrates a strident trend toward depravity. We cannot avoid being influenced by the corruption and disease that surrounds us if we do not posses God's antidote.

We need to spend as much time reading God's Word as possible. We should not think of it as either a luxury or a chore. It is essential preparation for today.

2) "...and obeys them..." - It is not enough to read the Bible or even memorize entire passages.
Obedience is the truest test of our love for God. It is putting down our own banner and living under His. Submitting to God is likely the hardest thing to do on a daily basis...but it is the only way to ensure that we are living in a way that glorifies Him. This is the reason we exist.

3) "...he is the one who loves me." - Does this hurt your heart? Remind yourself next time you feel compelled to do something you know is wrong. Our obedience is the evidence of our love for God. Without obedience...there is NO proof that you love Him.

Now, go spend some unhurried time reading your Bible. Then go live what you have read.

Don't fall asleep...don't pick up your old banner...we are running out of time and there is so much yet to do.

"Life doesn't have optional voids." obedience is a crucial means of showing God how much we love him...an act of "dying to self."

    I like that very much.

Where did you get it? I would like to discuss it more.

Please comment anytime. (I'll try to tone it down if you prefer.) You are a more important part of our lives than you probably know.

This is a "smiley" friendly zone.
    It's a grace thing, right?

    ;)
