The word for the day is "triskaidekaphobia".

Found a link on National Geographic's website pertaining to the history behind the Friday the 13th weirdness that contained virtually NOTHING of value.

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/02/0212_040212_friday13_2.html

I did say "virtually" nothing. There was this one little paragraph that jumped out at me.

" 'Their beliefs and behavior are likely to be part of a much bigger worldview,' he said. 'They will believe that luck is a magical force and that it can ruin their lives.' "

Well, if "luck" is NOT a magical force then how exactly do the good folks at National Geographic think we got here?

Here is some food for thought. When you feel tempted to think things are going badly because you have been "unlucky" or "cursed"...consider that our Creator stands in direct opposition to such superstitions. Here are a few passages that directly contradict the notion that there are such things as "accidents", "magic", or "omens".

You want a sign from God? Ask Him.

"Thus says the LORD, "Do not learn the way of the nations, And do not be terrified by the signs of the heavens Although the nations are terrified by them;"
~ Jeremiah 10:2

"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."
~ 1 John 4:1

"For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you."
~ Acts 17:23

"Daniel answered before the king and said, 'As for the mystery about which the king has inquired, neither wise men, conjurers, magicians nor diviners are able to declare it to the king.'
'However, there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will take place in the latter days This was your dream and the visions in your mind while on your bed. '"
~ Daniel 2:27 & 28

Enjoy the day.
